Per the California Department of Fish and Wildlife deer harvest report for 2022, the best zone for deer hunting by success rate is the C Zone. C zone is mostly comprised of the Shasta Nation Forest when it comes to public lands. The deer tags are limited when it comes to C Zone with roughly 8,100 tags issues in each zone. The success rate, however, boasts a massive 21.4 percent, the highest in the State.
